Paint the Town returns with a new twist.

Save the date for Thursday, September 16th at 6pm for Paint the Town Green!

In honor of our 30th anniversary, all of us at Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley decided to put a new twist on our annual fundraiser: Paint the Town, Green! Green is the traditional color associated with celebrating a 30th anniversary and at RTSV, green is the color of our [Re]Builders because it symbolizes our work in bringing new growth to our communities by supporting them with safety and critical repairs.

Coyote Creek Flooding 2: When Will Work Begin?

Flood survivors taught RTSV how to listen.

After RTSV became involved with repairing Golden Wheel Mobile Home Park, we needed to secure resources and funding to get our work started. After assessing the damage in the park, our technicians reported that 40 homes in the park needed repair work and since many of the homeowners did not have flood insurance, they were not going to be able to afford repairs on their own.

A look into how the flood in 2017 affected mobile homes.

Back in 2017, Executive Director Deanne Everton was on a hike with a friend around Lake Anderson in Morgan Hill and was struck by the amount of water rushing out of an irrigation pipe into Coyote Creek. She recalls that “It was as if someone turned on a faucet at full speed…” and was so striking that many people came to see the pipe while she was there. “No one could have predicted how that much water would affect the communities laid along Coyote Creek,” she added.

Let’s Go Back to the Beginning! Welcome to our first RTSV’s 30 for 30 Blog Post.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley’s life changing work. We began in 1991 as an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, originally known as Christmas in April which started in 1973 when a small group of women in construction in Midland, Texas, realized a growing need in their community for repairs of homes that had fallen into despair.
