Kevin, our Construction Service Manager, who kicked the year off by earning his CAPS Certificate! CAPS teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills needed to successfully perform critical repair and safety modifications for our clients aging in place.
If you aren’t familiar with what aging in place means, we have a blog post all about it! Click here to read about aging in place.

Members of the BNI Sunnyvale Empowered Business Partners came together on a Safe at Home project site to volunteer and learn about how RTSV supports neighbors in need with critical repairs. They also learned how to use different tools to complete these critical repairs while following safety protocols and having a great time.

We were awarded a $6,000 grant from the American Land Title Association Good Deeds Foundation and were featured in this Yahoo Finance article!🎉
We are so grateful that one of our volunteers who is also a member of ALTA nominated us and after being reviewed against 70 other applicants, we received the news that we would be among the finalists that would be awarded a grant.
Thank you, ALTA Good Deeds Foundation!
RTSV Received The Top Rating (Again)!
(Pictured above: RTSV All-Star Alaina isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty painting on a project site during Spring Rebuilding Day)
Charity Navigator awarded RTSV a 4-star rating for the 7th time in a row! Charity Navigator, an organization that helps empower donors by giving them access to tools and data to make philanthropic decisions, awarded RTSV with a 4-star rating, the highest rating they offer! This is the seventh consecutive time we’ve been awarded a 4-star rating.
According to Charity Navigator, “Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work. Only 9% of the charities we evaluate have received at least 7 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness”.
We are so proud to have been given 4 stars! We are thankful to have a great team of staff, board members, volunteers, supporters, and clients who have made this possible.
Reporting Our Impact
(Pictured above: RTSV’s incredible stats for last year show the impact of the work we complete)
Earlier this year, we released our Annual Report and Spring Newsletter, two important pieces of key insights and future plans for RTSV. We found that despite global supply chain issues and shortages, increases in the cost of materials, and of course the ongoing pandemic, RTSV persevered and continued our life-changing repairs for our local neighbors in need!
Our 2021 Financial Reports and Statistics provide a glimpse into income and expenses as well as the life-changing work we accomplished over the past year. Read more by checking out the digital copy of our Annual Report and Newsletter here.
RTSV’s Univision Interview
(Video above: RTSV All-Star Crystal explains RTSV’s work in an all-Spanish interview)
RTSV’s Client Service Manager, Crystal Moreno appeared on Univision Area de la Bahia’s Contigo program with DJ Glorybella, who represents Univision’s Community Outreach program. This all-Spanish interview is the perfect way to get clarification about RTSV’s life changing work and application process for homeowners who prefer Spanish.
Thank you for giving us this opportunity, Univision!
Two Successful Rebuilding Days!
(Pictured above: Lee and her husband pose in front of their home as happy Rebuilding Day recipients on Spring Rebuilding Day)
On April 30th and October 22nd, we held our two Rebuilding Days, and both were a success thanks to all of you! We were able to welcome over 400 volunteers at 19 project sites across Santa Clara County on each of our Rebuilding Days. We were also able to maintain the safety of our volunteers and homeowners while getting our life-changing repair work done.
We are always so thankful to our Rebuilding Day recipients and clients, partners, volunteers, staff, and board members who all unite in a powerful force of community revitalization on our largest volunteer events of the year!
Celebrating Affordable Housing Month
(Pictured above: RTSV All-Stars Alaina and Kevin stand in front of the RTSV office, welcoming attendees to our Affordable Housing Month event)
Did you know that May is Affordable Housing Month? Housing organizations across the Bay Area hosted events in collaboration with SV @ Home focused on the preservation, production, and protection of housing.
Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley hosted an event to educate attendees on our life-changing work to preserve the existing housing stock. This event was split into 2 parts: an informational session on the importance of the preservation of housing related to mobile homes as the last form of affordable homeownership in Silicon Valley and a live demonstration of modified safety step building put on by our long-time Safe At Home volunteers.
Not only was this event a success in educating our community, it was our first sold-out event of the year!
If you missed your chance to be part of the action, click here to watch a recording of the event.
For The First Time Ever, The Home Team!
(Pictured above: Two RTSV volunteers hold up one of our limited edition Home Team Baseball T-Shirts at our Home Team Event)
After our Spring Rebuilding Day, we decided to bring our volunteers, partners, and supporters to Excite Ballpark for a San Jose Giants baseball game as a thank you for giving us the tools and resources to continue our life-changing repairs. We sold out within a week of announcing the event, making The Home Team our most popular non-volunteer based event!
We had tons of fun catching up with you in person while cheering our Home Team on from the VIP Deck. This was truly an event not to be missed: just take a look at the pictures here!
We Raised $110,000 at Paint The Town!
(Pictured above: RTSV All-Star and Executive Director Deanne, high fives Sandis Vice President Laura, celebrating a job well done at this project site on Spring Rebuilding Day)
Rebuilding Together’s Annual Fundraiser – Paint the Town, celebrates our collective belief that everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy home while also raising the much-needed funds to underpin the ever-growing needs of our community.
We know now more than ever that everything starts at home. And without a safe place to call home, the disadvantages can thwart progress. Rebuilding Together’s critical repair work for our families with young children, people with disabilities, veterans, older adults, and underserved communities is vital to the livelihood of the Silicon Valley and we are grateful you supported us at Paint The Town.
We are so happy that you all loved the videos we put together featuring our staff’s perspectives as well as our neighbors next door, Ed, and his daughter Lou Ann. Catch both of those videos on our YouTube channel here.
Lowe’s Partners With RTSV To Support Our Veterans
(Pictured above: RTSV All-Star and volunteers from Lowe’s present a flag to one of the veteran homeowners part of the Lowe’s Veterans Support Initiative after transforming his home)
Thank you to Lowe’s for partnering with us on 3 Team Build projects! We had a blast seeing how Lowe’s transformed the inside and outside of the 3 veteran homes we worked on together.
Nearly 2.3 million veterans live in poverty and are unable to afford essential home repairs or safety modifications. With support from long-time partners like Lowe’s, Rebuilding Together has completed more than 10,500 veterans rebuild project by providing no-cost home repairs that help veterans and their families safely age in place.
Lowe’s generously gave $3.3 million nationally to support our veterans and their families by renovating 79 homes nationwide. Three of these homes we worked on with Lowe’s were part of this initiative.
We Won The $60,000 Veterans Home Repair & Modification Pilot Grant!
(Pictured above: Veteran homeowner Vincent and RTSV All-Star Board Member and veteran Terry, stand together outside of Vincent’s home as it is transformed during Fall Rebuilding Day)
As part of the Veterans Home Repair & Modification Pilot, a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funding program, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley won a $60,000 award to help us support our community’s veterans!
As part of the program, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley (RTSV) will repair homes for at least 6 veterans with disabilities at no cost to them over the next three years. With 7.1% of Californian veterans living in poverty, there is more work to be done.
The First Of Its Kind: Ring In The New Year, Light Up The Season
(Pictured above: RTSV All-Star Victoria helps install the first Ring Doorbell for one of our neighbors in Seven Trees)
Our goal at Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley is to meet with the communities we support and listen to their needs. The wonderful neighborhood Seven Trees Neighborhood Association identified safety and security as the neighborhood’s main concern. We are proud that with YOUR help, we were able to address the needs of the community and bring added safety to our neighbors in Seven Trees!
Our Ring In The Holidays, Light Up The Season event was a big success. Thank you to those that were able to join us. We are amazed and humbled by your support with litter clean up and registering so many of our neighbors from Seven Trees to receive our services.
We were even featured in the news! Click here to check out the NBC article that mentions our partnership with the Seven Trees Neighborhood Association.
We couldn’t cover everything we were excited about in 2022 but we hope that 2023 has even more accomplishments we can share together!
At Rebuilding Together – Silicon Valley, we believe that everyone deserves to live in a safe and healthy home, so we help provide critical home repairs to over 600 clients per year, including to those who are aging in place. We rely on generous donations—like those on Giving Tuesday—to continue our essential work and the positive impact we have in these communities.
Our Work Takes Grit!
and create change firsthand!
